Mirissa, Sri Lanka

We were delighted to arrive into the (touristy) but beachy area of Sri Lanka! Our hotel was right on the beach so we got straight into our bikini and hit the sand! The beach is a long curve of pale sand and clear (but cold!) water.

To celebrate the start of the relaxing part of the break we grabbed drinks to sip as we watched the sunset.

At dusk, fish stalls and barbeques started to be set up along the water front lined up with lots of tasty looking seafood in time for dinner.

Unfortunately it was at that time that the heavens decided to open, accompanied by thunder and lightning!

So we hid in a shelter for our delicious grilled butterfish.

The next day was just a chill-out beach day!

I started the day with breakfast on the beach, including golden passionfruit and pomegranate.

Followed by a walk along the length of the beach…

…including a climb up to a rocky vantage point…

…and entertaining ourselves along the way.

Mid-morning treat was a fresh king coconut.

And then it was time to settle down onto a sun lounger!

Early afternoon we had a little wander towards the small town where I had a lemon iced tea and a seafood salad…

…before relaxing with a 90 minute full body massage which was fantastic.

I floated back to my sunbed in time for sundowner drinks!

Then another delicious meal of leek & potato soup followed by calamari, King Fish with potato & blackcurrant sauce and Jiggery Mousse (coffee cream).

Perfect little rest-break before hitting the road again to Galle.
